An announcement came across the newswire this week regarding a new commercial real estate office opening in Lethbridge. This new office will be an Avison Young real estate office. Avison Young is a Canadian commercial real estate brokerage and property management company with more than 500 real estate professionals in (now) 14 offices across Canada and in the U.S.
While Avison Young is not the largest commerical real estate office, they are widespread. Now that they have opened in Lethbridge, they are one of the few alterantives available for clients seeking commercial real estate help. I suspect that they will focus upon International and National clients, as that seems to be the majority of their clientel in other major cities, and not so much on the small business side of things.
In Lethbridge, our commercial real estate is mostly Government and Corporate clients mixed with small business clients. On one hand we have the large industrial property owners, real estate trust companies, and large big box retailers and then scattered among them we have the small business owner, small building owners, and small commercial rental business.
Over the years, I have been involved in the sale and purchase of commercial buildings, multifamily apartment buildings, small businesses, and small business leases. I have learned a ton from these experiences and now that many of my peers are small business owners like myself, the information comes in extremely helpful. I am always glad to help my friends negotiate and purchase real estate and leasehold properties, as it is the most significant expense that many of them have in their business operations.
