Lethbridge Real Estate and Mortgage Info: Realtor's Survivor - More and More Are Getting Voted Off The Island

Several times this month I have viewed the membership updates that are sent out by my local Lethbridge real estate board and the official Real Estate Council of Alberta membership notices and changes.  It seems that each time a new update has arrived, there are more members leaving the industry.

 

The most interesting thing about watching these industry members throw in the towel, is that most of them are members who have been in the industry for less than 5 years.  I would have thought with the trend towards technology that the real estate industry has taken, that the first members to have grown tired and frustrated with it would have been the 'older' members who have been in the industry for 10+ years.  Heaven knows, the average age of a Realtor in Canada is still over 50 and creeping upwards each year.  In a world dominated by technology and an industry that demands that you stay on top of every trend and development to stay current, young industry members just don't stick around.

 

I would like to think that no matter how great an automated system you have, or how many fancy iphone applications and blogs you can operate, or how you track your leads and monitor you DRIP marketing campaigns, the old times all know one thing.  Real Estate is about relationships.  You will close more transactions with a handshake than you will with an email.

 

I have tried to keep that level of humanity and ethics in my business life.  I work hard for my clients, placing their well being at the top of my priority list.  I visit many on a regualr basis long after our business dealings have ended, and can look around my group of friends and count many who started out as prospects and clients and turned into life long friends.
